Taskovski Films London-based sales and production company is heading to 32nd edition of IDFA with five of their best documentaries from 2020, out of which two are selected for IDFA Feature-Length Documentary Competition.
First TF title in IDFA competition comes from Firouzeh Khosrovani, Iranian director is best known for her documentary Fest of Duty. This time around Khosrovani is having a world premiere of her latest work Radiograph of a Family, the story of Iran’s struggle between secularism and the Islamic ideology rooted in directors’ family and their relations.
Besides Radiograph of a Family, Taskovski FIlms War and Peace by Martina Parenti and Massimo D’Anolfi is a part of IDFA Feature-Length Documentary Competition. The film world premiered in Orizzonti selection of 77th Venice Film Festival and it tells the story of the relationship between cinema and war, one that has lasted for over a century, from the time of their first encounter, way back in 1911, on the occasion of the Italian invasion of Libya, to our own day.
In IDFA Luminious section we are having the International Premiere of Cannes L’acid selection Far From You I Grew by Marie Dumora (France), who won in FIDMarseille with her first film Avec ou sans toi and opened Panorama Berlinale in 2017 with Belinda. She now brings a coming-of-age title.
In this complicated year, where the pandemic has hit the industry, Taskovski Films has been able to drive its way and adapt to the new circumstances supporting its films and filmmakers achieving notable success in festivals with a large presence of TF films around the globe. Two of these films are programmed in Best of the Fests, Things We Dare Not Do by Bruno Santamaria (Hot Docs 2020), award-winning coming of age LGBT title (Gold Hugo at Chicago IFF, FicViña and Festival de Lima), and The Foundation Pit by Andrei Gryazev (World Premiered at Berlinale 2020) an experimental documentary completed with found footage with which the director portrays the feelings of individuals towards Putin’s government, building an actual social movement through this film in the year of Russia’s elections.
