The new documentary by French award winner filmmaker Marie Dumore, Far From You I Grew (France, 2020) will have it’s World Premiere in L’ ACID 28th program in September. It has been selected together with three more documentaries and it’s one of the five films directed by women.
Marie Dumore, who won in FIDMarseille with her debut feature Avec ou sans toi, brings this time a refreshing coming of age title that portrays the life of Nicolas, a young boy living at a foster home, and shows how he develops in life and returns to his mom building a mother-son relationship.
Taskovski Films is deliverying this new title as World Sales and Festivals distributor that will start its festival run in September at L’ACID in Cannes.
SYNOPSIS
For a long time, Nicolas has been getting by on his own. He is now 13 years old, loves the story of Ulysses and Jack London’s books, and lives in a foster home in the Bruche valley with his friend Saef, who traveled from far away across the sea. Together they go into the woods to listen to their music and talk about girls or mopeds. Or to run away. From time to time, Nicolas sees his mother for a christening, a trip to the fairground, or a soda. Soon, he will have to find his place.
